Cusco exports more than 200 tons of Hass avocado to the Netherlands amid the pandemic

Senasa reported that 10 requests from abroad have been met because the sanitary standards required to make these shipments were met.

A total of 211 tons of hass avocado, which are produced in the Limatambo district valley, Anta province, Cusco region, were exported to the Netherlands from Ica.


This was reported by the National Agrarian Health Service (Senasa), which specified that 10 requests for export of one of the flagship products of this town were met. He also indicated that the transfer is carried out in compliance with the preventive measures against Covid-19 established by the Ministry of Health (Minsa).

Similarly, the Senasa noted that the Hass avocado production sites are certified, since, through a phytosanitary inspection, it was verified that the product is free of pests. This certification is an essential requirement to export to various international markets.


The main Hass avocado production center in Limatambo has 15 sectors and 225 producers, who are part of the Association of Avocado Fruit Producers. It allocates 70% of its production to the external market and 30% to the national and local market.

- In 2017 the campaign closed with 777 tons of hass avocado shipped abroad and in 2018 the figure amounted to 1,258 tons.
